The Nineteenth Judicial District Commission on Judicial
Performance unanimously recommends that Judge Daniel S. Maus BE
RETAINED.
Judge Maus was appointed to the District Court bench in July 2002.
Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Maus was in private
practice in Greeley, specializing in civil litigation. Judge Maus
currently hears felony criminal cases.
Judge Maus is active in his Rotary Club and seeks opportunities
expressed a willingness to speak with area youth regarding the legal
system process and the importance it could have in their lives.
The Commission reviewed a self-evaluation completed by Judge Maus,
conducted a personal interview with him, and considered written
evaluations done by both attorneys and non-attorneys.
Of the attorneys responding to the survey, 73% strongly recommended
he be retained and 27% somewhat recommended he be retained. Of the
non-attorneys who responded, 75% strongly recommended retention,
18% somewhat recommended retention, and 6% recommended against retention.
Judge Maus received high ratings from both attorneys and non-attorneys
in essentially all areas, particularly regarding his demeanor, the
fact that he treats people in his courtroom politely and with respect,
is prepared (does his homework), allows both sides adequate time
to present their cases, and is skilled in assisting parties to reach
agreement. |
